Safari, So Good
30/03/04 Our 9am Kuala Lumpur-Singapore flight took off half an hour late due to queues at immigration control. It seemed the whole of KL wanted to leave and who could blame them? An hour later and we were back at our favouritest airport in the whole wide world, Changi, for the second time this year after our brief time in transit en route to Koh …
Hot,humid and slowing down.....
Which is what we tried to do , but ended up going for a 10 K walk in the heat then a swim, eventually collapsed..

Singapore Sling
We arrived in Singapore on Thursday night and have had two fantastic days here. It is such a modern city but has retained a lot of its ethnic buildings in tact. A lot of it is a bit like Canary Warf on speed! We have walked through the most massive shopping centres. We have walked for miles exploring the riverside areas, Little India, China Town …

Historical Traveler Reviews The Sentosa, A Beaufort Hotel Sentosa Island
Zen-like hotel
The Sentosa Resort and Spa (previously known as the Beaufort Sentosa) is a beautiful hotel. In particular the pool area and the Cliff restaurant are stunning, especially at night.
The hotel feels extremely calm, and the black marble and flowing water theme made it Zen-like.
We reserved an executive suite room since all the standard rooms were fully booked and in all honesty it was too big for the two of us. But, it was very clean, comfortable and quiet.
The restaurant (The Cliff) is a must - one of the best in Singapore, if you like fish! Particularly recommend the banana bread desert.
The spa is a 5-7 minute walk away down the hill and not really part of the hotel, but it was fabulous. We're not really spa people, but it was so quiet and unnassuming. Highly recommend the mud pool which you can use for S$15 (as part of the spa entrance fee) if you're staying at the hotel. My wife had a body wrap and is still raving about it a week later!!!
During the day, the view across the bay is mostly of tankers arriving at singapore port - but you soon get used to this - and at night it actually looks great as you just see the lights.
The beach is a 10 minute walk down 132 steps (!!) but worth the walk. Again, try not to look at the oil tankers.
Taxis can be hard to get in Singapore (particularly around 5pm when the shifts change) so allow more time than you think to get anywhere - even though it's all very close. From the hotel you need to get the concierge to book one for you - takes about 5-10 mins to arrive and the taxi charges a $5 booking fee. There are buses but we didnt find them at the right places at the right times!
Having travelled through Asia on our way here, we found the room rate a little high and the service good but not exceptional.
So although we have given this a good review, we think on balance it's 4 out of 5
Stay Here!!!
My husband and I had the pleasure of staying at the Sentosa Resort and Spa in November 2005.
We got a really reasonable price thru asiarooms - $380 Australian for 2 nights all up including a fabulous breakfast.
The resort is something to behold. Lovely open walkways surrounded by ponds and fountains, a fabulous infinity pool which is huge, and 2 restaurants overlooking the pool and the ships anchored in the East China sea.
Our room was much better than expected, quite large with a luxurious bathroom of marble. The toiletries were lovely.
I spurged on a massage at the ajoined spa which was weel worth it, but expensive at $140 Singapore dollars.
They also have a great golf course situated next to the hotel.
The staff were fabulous and friendly, this is definately a 5 star resort, but there was no air of pretentious-ness (is that a word?) about it.
Free shuttle buses from the resort to orchard rd (about 20 mins)
Very Easy to walk along the beachfront of the island to the dolphin lagoon and various little bars etc.
We loved it! Stay there!!!
Much appreciated luxury
Just finished spending 2 nights at the Sentosa Island Resort in Singapore. Used this as a stopover for 3 days between Australia and Europe. Had never heard of Sentosa Island and had no idea what to expect.
Pros: Unbelievably friendly staff who made you feel special and wanted - so unlike many hotels.
Fantastic food at the Pavilion Restaurant on site - we ate there for breakfast and dinner - senstational seafood buffet Fri/Sat/Sun nights!!!
Very large rooms and well appointed - bathrooms slightly grungy due to the high humidity I believe.
Wonderful array of activities for our 2 boys and ourselves - we just LOVED the luge - so much fun.
Free buses around the island and free shuttles to Orchard Road.
Cons: Cost for activities on the Island were quite high.
Quite expensive hotel, but well worth the price.
The whole family adored Sentosa Island Singapore and we plan to come back and just spend our holiday there for 2 weeks.
I will return to this resort and I will bring friends/family with us.
Lovely hotel
Stayed here for 5 nights this month on the way back from Europe. Great service both at reception and in the resturants. Very well trained staff. Lovely grounds and fantastic pool area. Monkeys and peacocks around the place. Rooms a little tired but have everything you could want in them.
The hotel has 2 buses that run throughout the day, one every half hour to the Harbour front MRT and the second every hour to Orchard rd in the city ( and back). Sentosa island has a bus which calls every 15 mins to go to various parts of the island (also free).
Sentosa island at the moment is undergoing a big renovation so lots of things are closed and it's a bit of a mess.
However the hotel is a super place to stay and relax in Singapore.
We will definately stay again.
Luxurious
the hotel was 5 star. We upgraded ourselves on a special offer to the suite. It was huge. I posted a photo of the ensuite living room.
The bed was huge and comfortable.
There was a coffee machine in the room (though we were not told that you have to pay for this, until we received an additional bill through the post, once we returned home!) this is the only gripe.
The service was excellent. The pool very nice. The restaurant and buffet , first class.
There are peacocks roaming all around the resort - very cool!
Worth every penny
As a frequent traveller on both business and leisure I was very impressed with this hotel. We splashed out and stayed in a deluxe suite on a stopover to Australia. The room was fantastic and catered for us needing to do a few work related e-mails etc.Good highspeed internet access and a great spa!If you are here on a Sunday the "Brunch" was worth the £30.I was so impressed I am planning to hold an international meeting here in the future.
Wonderful
I stayed with my six year old son at the Sentosa Resort for 8 days in March. It was perfect! The pool (33 meters) is fantastic with occasional wildlife (monkeys and peacocks) and there isa lot to do on Sentosa Island. Shuttle buses took us comfortably to the Harbourfront MRT station or to Orchard Road when we wanted citylife.
Best of all was the extremely friendly staff. I hope I can come back soon.

Superb stay
Nice secluded location, excellent pool, close to the beach and just a short taxiride to the city. Excellent breakfast and magnificent on-site restaurant (although somewhat pricey). The one and only drawback I found was that the fitness facilities were a bit run-down.
Great conference hotel
Great facilities for a conference, good sized rooms although I was upgraded. Food in the seafood restaurant was sensational as was the spa treatments. I would highly recommend this resort as a great place to enjoy time out after any conference. Close to golf course gfreat cocktails
More than a stopover
We stayed in two adjoining rooms at the resort in Sept for 4 days as a stop over from Australia to Europe for our children. Suprisingly we enjoyed it very much. It is an excellent hotel with large pool which is a necessity in a humid and hot climate, great meals, very large rooms which are greatly furnished and exceptionally helpful staff. Its location away from the main part of singapore also adds to its attraction. It is close to all the major singapore beaches which gives the tourist an opportunity to observe beach life as it is in Singapore. The monkeys raiding the towel bins near the pool was also an added bonus for our children! Ultimately it turned out to be more than a stopover and it was an important part of our holiday
