          ... right next to the grammar school, and were offering their rugby field as an exchange. You guessed it, there wasn't much choice in the matter - the exchange took place and the cricket club moved - that happened within Dennis' memory, so if and when the Waltons from the 1800s played cricket, it would have been right next to the school. I've emailed the Knaresborough Cricket Club to see if they have any archives - you never know....

          ... the garden - well, he did!! He
          managed to dig up an old stone sink, which would have been used in the original kitchen - amazingly he hauled it 50 yards, until he was exhausted, and left it there. The next morning, he could hardly move the thing but it is now safely installed in his garden - he took me there
          so I could take a photo of it - the only piece of the house left!! He said he'd give it to me if it would help - I assured him it was better with him... ...

          ... s 2 sons and she had some great suggestions of places for me to go tomorrow to check out - she gave great directions for me to find an existing ex-Walton home and the Castle Mill, so we'll see how it goes tomorrow. Roger delighted me with a gift of a gorgeous blue cotton throw - how did he know it was my colour??!! And I have a couple of catalogues - they're going on-line shortly and are expecting orders from us!!

          ... were disappointed that I decided to walk to my air bnb place, but it really helps if I walk around a place first, to find my accommodation - and it's one way of finding out if it's too far to walk!! It was only a short walk, so that was cool - I'm SO grateful to Yvonne for putting me onto - it gets me EVERYWHERE, eventually! :-)

          We stopped by a local farm offering cream teas and met a very interesting woman who had been serving teas for thirteen years and had just walked the C2C last year.
