Last few days in paradise

Today was sadly our last day on the boat trip. We left Komodo National Park and headed for Labuan Bajo, stopping by at Rinca on the way for a second chance to see the mighty Komodo Dragon.

As usual we were delivered a desert style breakfast by the crew of sugary banana pancakes and chocolate. I was actually starting to warm to the taste …

A little bit of everything

A travel blog entry by marknpatti

Today was a day full of doing a lot of little things. We planned the next leg of our adventure and booked our flights back to Bali for tomorrow. We lounged poolside. Patti and Mark headed to the local medical clinic for some antihistamines for an irritating rash on Patti's lower legs and feet. In the afternoon we had a tour of Flores with a local …

After being somewhat confused by our seeming lack of options we have spent the last three nights at a different hotel in Labuan Bajo and have managed to get a flight back to Bali today.

We decided that there is no point in being downhearted by our overland travel predicament and we are going to make the most of our situation. This meant …

A month in Indonesia

Sorry for the lack of updates, so here's a big one!

Since you’ve last heard from us we’ve been spending time in the amazing country of Indonesia. We spent the first couple days on what is probably Indonesia’s most famous island, Bali. After making the mistake of spending more than one night in the party city of Kuta, we headed to the town of Ubud- a small picturesque town that is famous for its yoga studios, spas, and hippy ...

Komodo Dragons!

A travel blog entry by davidandmarjory

Once again it's a very early start as we fly at 7:00 am from Ende to Labuan Bajo. We are met at arrivals by our driver who takes us to the hotel to drop off our luggage and collect a picnic breakfast. We head to the port and board our private boat to Rinca. The crew are very friendly and the scenery stunning. The trip takes 2 hours and the weather is glorious!

On arrival at Rinca Island we are met and welcomed by our Komodo ...

Awesome swimming pool area, perfect for spending the day if you have no other plans. good amount of sunbeds and towels are provided. Room was spacious and clean, only a curtain between the bedroom and bathroom which seems to bother some people but not a problem for us, if anything it helped the room to feel bigger. Breakfast is worth getting down early for as it seemed to go quite quickly but there was good choice and fresh omlettes. The hotel is a slight drive out of Labuan Bajo but for a small amount they have a car which will drive you in and pick you up too if needed...which it is in evenings as taxis are non existent and Bemo's do not run very late!
All in all an excellent hotel, book through agoda for nice cheap rates!

Room was very nice, the staff very helpful and the breakfast the best in Indonesia. However, the food and alcohol was far too expensive. More expensive than western prices!
