Fantastic Hotel, easily the best we've ever stayed in. Then again, they know they are good. £7 for a beer...have a word. It was 57p last night for the same stuff in a back street! currently poolside

High tea on the terrace of the Imperial hotel

Officially, It seems that high tea is only offered indoors now, so we ordered our own cake and an assortment of food and had it served to us with "tea" outside. Ulrica and I had lovely tropical mocktails, with banana and pineapple and coconut milk.

    Perfect respite from heat

After a long day sight-seeing, and after 14 dusty days in Ladakh, the Imperial was a perfect respite from the heat. The marble interiors are cool, the service was excellent. We had a courtyard view room, which was a bit noisy in the early evening but not bad. The spa facilities were beautiful. As guests, we had access to the saunas and whirl pool. The spa treatments were excellent as well, taken in some of the most inviting treatment rooms I've ever seen. We did not dine in any of the restaurants, so I cannot comment on those ... but the bread from the bakery was warm and delicious!

    Culture Shock

New Delhi was a bit of a culture shock for us. We arrived at the airport and going through customs was incredible. Apparently several planes landed at one time and literally hundreds of people entered what felt like a small room (there was no air conditioning) and thronged to the 3 customs agents processing the people in. No lines, just everybody …

We are now in New Delhi and are flying to Nepal this evening! We went to the red fort at lunch time which was nice but the weather was way too hot! Can't believe it's time to leave India, it's been 7 weeks! I'm really looking forward to seeing Nepal though, always wanted to go.

Arrival: Andre survived his flight to Delhi making his tight connection in Hong Kong with ease. The only drama encountered was the precious business man in the next row who almost blew a gasket when the food wasn't as good as business class. Oh the pain......

I met up with Andre at the Imperial Hotel later in the day.

We were mesmerized by the incredible flavors and variety available at this "fast food" concept, including something called Raj Kachori which blew our minds! We licked our fingers and sighed before turning in for the night. ...
