Who says Florida is all big boats, cheesy coastal tourist traps and theme parks.... St Augustines in northern Florida has got some style and history to boot. As America's oldest registered town St Augustines has lots to see and learn about the many changes of ownership and the great battles that ensued and throw into the mix a self made railway …

... Georgia. White fluffy clouds in the sky so weather looks okay so far. The thermometer registers 88 degrees so it's a hote one. "Flash Food" bill board signs replace the Circle K stores. At first glance I thought there were alot of flash flood signs. Silly me. New coastal homes for $195,000. Thanks but no thanks in June when they have hurricane and cyclone season. They are practically giving the houses away in Georgia. The accents ...

It was interesting to learn that the native chief Tomo Chi Chi interacted with Oglethorpe in a friendly way, ceding Indian land to him for the building of Savannah. He was a progressive thinker in his request of three things: no cheating, no hard spirits and establishment of schools teaching the 3 R's plus English to his Creek people.

To be honest, Savannah has not charmed me as much as I thought it would. Whilst I was amazed at the city squares and beautiful houses, the city was also somewhat chaotic and crazy too. But maybe that's just all part of the Southern ...

... and is the home to many, many mosquitoes! Walking quickly throughout the Fort to limit the number of bites we were being subjected to, we viewed sleeping quarters, goals, ammunition, cannons and flags from the ages in this area. In costume was also a gentleman who was glade to answer any questions regarding the history of the Fort. Making a final dash towards the car, we now headed in the direction of the Savannah town centre.
