Historical Traveler Reviews The Beachside Resort Panama City Beach

      Loved it

      from

This was my first trip to Fla. I took my Aunt to visit her son.My mom and sister stayed with me at the Sea Witch. We had a fabulous time, and loved the location.

my mom and sister stayed with me at the

      Very disappointed

      from

Very disappointed in the staff in how our requests for accommodations were handled. We were very specific in having a handicapped or ground floor room and even made trip to Panama City to see the room. When we arrived, we were given room, across the entire premises on the top floor of the tower. Staff was rude and totally uncaring. Been going to PC for 25 years, at least two times per year, this has never happened with any venue at any time.

      Underwhelmed

      from

The Sea Witch Motel did not live up to it's website photos or description. Although the pool area was OK (looked a lot bigger on the web). The rooms were shabby, greasy, dark and had an odour which seemed to be a mixture of chlorine and nicotine. Infact, the room we had was so depressing we curtailed our visit. We were refused a refund from the management despite our complaints. I would suggest either the rooms are brought up to the standard of the website or the website altered to reflect the true condition of the rooms.

This hotel in it's present state was definitely not worth the money we spent on the room and the hotel's advertising is misleading to say the least.

      Never again

      from

We planned a vacation for the Sea Witch and at the last minute I could not go so I sent my 17 year old son, with his brother and their adult aunt. My son called and said the man at the counter was rude and incompetent when they checked in. They had driven 10 hours and the man not only did not welcome them or smile, he was short and terse when my son asked questions about the hotel and the surrounding beach areas. He first gave them a key to what he said was their room. They put the key in the door and some guy opened it from the inside and was furious because it was HIS room already. My son went back to the front desk and had to wait until this person was in the mood to fix it. I called down there today to try and leave a message for my son and the same man was rude to me. He could not remember what room he had put them in after giving them the wrong key yesterday...he never apologized, he didn't make conversation, he said he could not remember and didn't have any idea how to put me in touch with my son. I insisted we remain on the phone til he did. He was rude the entire time. Turns out they changed the reservation name to the aunt's name at check in with no record of the change. We will never ever book this hotel again. We go to Florida twice a year and have never had a bad experience. This person should not be on the afternoon shift as he is unfriendly, not helpful and acts like the guests are interfering with his life by being there. We will continue to visit Florida twice a year but will never stay at or recommend the Sea Witch to anyone we know. My son is almost 18 and unimpressed with this man's attitude toward guests. I am 46 and was not impressed either.

      Great family hotel

      from

We stayed over july 4th my family really ejoyed the friendly staff and the cleanliness of the rooms. We will definetly go back! THANKS!

      Pretty good

      from

The Sea Witch was a great place for the price. It was right on the beach, friendly staff, good family motel and clean.I'm pretty sure we will be staying there again.

      Had a great time

      from

we reciently stayed 2 days had a very enjoyable experience room was very clean and i like being on the quiet end of the beach.

      Poor customer service

      from

I should have trusted my instinct when I thought it was weird that I had to mail a $100 deposit to hold my reservation. I had to cancel my vacation a week before my trip because my companion broke his leg. The reservation confirmation postcard advised that a 72 hour notice is required for cancellation, but they failed to disclose they deduct $10 from my deposit. I will never hold a reservation again by mailing a check. Poor customer service.

      Sea Witch is Sea Sick

      from

Last year I stayed at the Sea Witch in Panama City. I had a reservation for four nights. I had to leave for home with a family emergency after two nights. I was not given a refund for the two remaining nights. Their policy was firm Not a family friendly hotel to me.

      Nice Place

      from

Nice motel for the most part. This was the motel I stayed in for my first visit to Panama City Beach. I did have a nice time at the motel and the staff was friendly. It is located on the beach so both the sand and surf are right there. Good motel, needs a little cleaning of the interior, but otherwise nice place.

Miles driven so far = 11,155

We have been "lounging" here on the white sand beaches for past few days. We drove 424 miles from Savannah on north Georgia coast down through Jacksonville then across thru Tallahassee (Florida State University) over to pan handle then south to Grayton Beach State Park which is 40 miles NW of Panama City.

This little gem lies in between towns with multitudes of high rise condos, ...
