    Garry & Jackie had been down earlier in the day and placed our picnic chairs on the Congress lawn to 'save' our place for the fireworks display. It was like festival time with the Island population swelling fro 4,000 to 45,000 for the celebration weekend.     ... was horrific. The traffic was congested and we altered our route to get off route 30. Luckily we had our audio book and learned more about the War of 1812.

    Even after a great get-away, it always feels so good to get home again to our beloved Cape May.

    It's been about 10 years since I last visited my aunt Heather and uncle Roger in Cape May. I arrived just before the start of the tourist season, so it was nice and quiet (but a little chillier than any of us liked!).     ... mouth of Delaware Bay from the possibility of Nazi naval attack. Fort Miles and the observation towers were abandoned by the Army in the early 1960s, but there have been some efforts to preserve these structures. Built to only last 20 years, they've been standing for over 60 years now. ....guess they don't build things like they use to!
