Oh dear - so soon? The horrid travel day has reared its ugly head. We aren't very good at travel days ... We tend to spend a fair bit of time planning for them but something invariably goes wrong. Today we found out we hadn't booked the hire car! We had decided that the easiest way to get a hire car for this trip was to get one from Heathrow. Following this visit to the gardens we headed to manchester to see my sister, brother in law and niece and nephew. The GPS was great and took us on the country roads to avoid the traffic. Our exploration of the palace grounds was heightened by the presence of the illustrator for 'The Gruffalo' book series. We were able to act the role of the privileged 18th century aristocracy, playing ring toss and lawn bowling, wandering the gardens, all with Gruffalo inspired activities for the kids interest.
