Survive Mumbai, survive the world.........?

... to the train station.

Jodhpur

Here i stayed in a haveli, which are the old houses of priests so the place looked amazing, the owner was a really firendly guy and he opened up the rooftop restaurant for me. jodphur is without doubt, no cliches but absolutley enchanting, magical and seductive. its a huge city but silent, the roads are all tiny walkways as its so old, none of them are straight they bend this way and that leading off into hundreds more of the same and ...

Jaisalmer Fort and a Camel Safari

... to a great point on the dunes for sunset, where we met a cute belgian girl, also on safari. We returned to the camp to eat a dinner under the stars, whilst watching some live music. Tofinish off the day, we were whisked away by camel cart to sleep on the dunes, below the brightest moon i have ever seen, illuminating everthing a blue grey. (We chased some dune bugs with a torch before hitting the hay!).

Kieran
... of a goat and the children just ran up to it and started posing with it. You see that a lot in India...some people just want you to take their picture. Usually people are shy around foreigners and their cameras! Not in India...and especially not with kids. We kept walking, trying to find a way to get to the main road and the children starting getting a little grabby. This one girl was pawing at my watch and tried to take it off my wrist. This other girl just reached ...

Camel jockey in the desert by Jack

... less than wallking speed twisting this way and that. On the 200 y/o saddels there is essentially no padding and the sensation is difficult to describe. Saddle sore!!! Rode a few hours and through several villages today. Took a break and played cricket with the young boys and then headed back to the Haveli for a much deserved shower and dinner. Tomorrow we board the train back to Delhi, 19 hours, and then onto the Himalyas. Jack

... buildings, temples, and amazing views of the city. There were dozens of cows and goats crowded into the old fort as well which made walking around a bit of a challenge. We had dinner near the fort, picked up the last supplies for the safari, and checked our e-mail. Tomorrow we ride camels! Safari Day One We left the hotel at 8:30am in a jeep to see a temple and then meet our camel drivers in the desert. Baba, the head driver was a skinny ...

Christmas in the desert

... station once, a woman walked up to us and spoke pure indian to which kelsey replied 'no, sorry, we don't have any nepalese rupies' the woman nodded in understanding and went away. 'now kelsey, how the f*** did you know what she wanted?' (just goes to show how kelsey can talk her way out of anything) back to my origional story, after the above, she could take on anything. Using a good deal of sign language, moving her hands in circular motions to indicate that we wanted ...

A giant sandcastle in the desert

... streetchildren, other disabled people and elderly people begging. I heard that the majority of beggars in Delhi are enslaved by a sort of mafia who take 65% of their "earnings" in exchange for food and shelter. India could do more for its people, rather than allowing such misery to occur on every street. ODDITIES ON THE ROADS- bizarre sights - there are too many to mention, but here is a few (1) We were in an autorickshaw on a motorway in the Punjab and ...
