Trung Nhi St Hoi An, Vietnam, (-84.510)-916777
We stayed at (Serene Hotel) Thanh Binh 111 Hotel at 98, Ba Trieu Str., Hoi An - tel: 84510916777 - 916 363 www.thanhbinhhotel.com.vn. I can't remember what the price was but it seemed so very reasonable for the room which included a great buffet breakfast. The hotel also has a pool.
Hoi An, Vietnam bowtieDay 1, Got picked up for the bus to Hoi An, couldn't believe it when we realised we were on another sleeper bus for just a 4hr trip during the middle of the day, they are so uncomfortable, and Laura got the one over the toilet, Lovely! Dropped off outside of town and asked in every guesthouse we passed if they had accomodation but were all full, walked past a really lush one and the guy outside said it was only $20 so decided to have a look and treat ourselves. We were in proper luxury, the r...
Hoi An, Vietnam chris~lauraWe hopped off the train and went out front in search of transport to Hoi An. We had not taken this route before, so had no idea how much it should cost and crossed our fingers. We were immediately targeted by a man with a van and a plan. He offered the ride for 250,000 dong (about $15) for the five of us and our many bags; I countered with 200,000; he accepted. While we were waiting for the van to drive up, we realized we'd left a bag on the train (though empty at the time, we didn't want to ...
Hoi An, Quảng Nam, Vietnam koppersAh, the joys of a night bus. Upon boarding the bus I discovered that not only was my sleeper-seat in the very back of the bus on the bottom row, but that the very back of the bus contained two sets of five seats right next to each other with no space in between. Lovely. I was by the window so I would only have one person next to me. A little apprehensive, I got in my seat and waited to see who would be next to me. Unfortunately my seat mate turned out to be a really creepy Vietnamese man. Whe...
Hoi An, Vietnam laura1... had been removed, Mark found he was now able to separate the others. In the end, every page was saved. After leaving them on the floor for a couple of days, he gathered them together and visited his friend Trinh, the photocopier man. He was able to trim the edges, find a cover page for back and front, with a plastic cover, and bind it together like a copy-book. It took ten minutes and cost 4,000 dong (about 27 cents)! Mark commented that he loves this country!

... eyes & stinging! Crazy!
After many rest stops we made it up the stairs to some great views & then in several caves where there was shrines to all types of things. They seem to worship a lot of stuff here - Ancestors, Buddhism, Confuscism, Taoism to name a few ...
... so far. So we hauled over three bags of clothes and then found out that she actually charges by the piece. It was still a bargain despite the fact that we handed over half our wardrobes, and when it was returned to us everything was damp and subsequently wrinkled right back up as soon as we put it into our suitcases.
And for those of you who identify with bug-a-phobia, while trying on earrings at a storefront display, we noticed a panicky 2” cockroach ...
