Monastir, Tunisia initiativegolf... in a taxi for Gatwick early (5 AM) on 17th. Spent 2 hours with the locals ( no chickens) on a hot train to Mahdia. K wanted beach immediately... The village is very quaint with several layers of history including invasions by Romans and Turks. The 5 time a day call to prayer has become normal very quickly and the people are warm.
K is adjusting very well ...

Monastir, Tunisia amidlifecrisis... made our flight, and he then carried our luggage all the way to the louage, and ordered our tickets for us! Such wonderful help, when Paul Eric wasn't feeling too well. In addition, he was able to tell us that we could get a louage directly to the airport from Sousse. Great! Changing at Sousse, we took the short journey to the airport, which dropped us off on the road nearby, just a few metres to walk to the entrance. We had plenty of time at the ...
Monastir, Tunisia katherine1965Up at 5am and after 1 hour and 30 minutes worth of travelling we arrived at El Djem. It has the 3rd largest ampitheatre in the world seating more than 30,000 people. The place is very atmospheric and you can actually see the claw marks of the wild animals in the walls of the dungeons. It was built between AD230 and 238. It measures 149m ...
Hammamet, Tunisia frankie2102... it was all done with a smile :) Like the charming man who tried to sell me a moth eaten jumper for roughly AU$100. Another minor hiccup on the way home - even though the plane was 3 hours late, they still didn't manage to get my luggage on it. So i ended up standing at the baggage carousel in Barcelona at 4am with that horrible sinking feeling as my luggage failed to make an appearance, But it is home now, brief stopovers in Casablanca and Madrid, and me and my carpet have been reunited :)
