... I didn't photograph all the things I cooked, but in some cases I needed to remember how we put the meal together on the plate so I tooks some pics to make it easier to replicate these dishes in future. Nerdy I know, but you will thank me if you come round for dinner one night and the food looks really pretty!

... late but the really freindly staff and the fact the flight only cost me 18 pounds made up for that.
Anyway, enough boring stuff! So the cooking school is a guesthouse and cooking school combined in a really pretty white building with classic blue wooden shutters. It is surrounded by about half an acre of garden, most of which is fruit trees and veggies which we used reguarly in the cooking. There are also a couple of smaller self contained units on the property ...
... looking forward to reaching Ile de Nourmoutier so decided to push on. The island is a bit of a tourist destination for the French, but once we reached the low-key village of L'Epine we seemed to escape the crowds. The aire right on the beach where we'd hoped to camp was full, so we ended up at a fairly un-glamorous fork in the road just off the beach. The thing that put me off the place though was the smell. Imagine acres of rotting seaweed, mixed with the ...

Tough day today; first it rained, then it poured. Finally, when the sun came out, the winds blew in off the sea! La Rochelle is worth a visit to see the back streets and restaurants along the harbour, especially lit up at night. Back in the rooms in Charron now, watching the stars and satellite spotting :-)
Charron, Poitou-Charentes, France tekknochickenJudith died! How are we going to manage without her - there'll be rows in the cab. She must have been dropped when planning last night.
Found this campsite after a couple of tries - clean and lovely under the pines. Swam, sunbathed, etc. for three days.
Cycled to La Flotte and St Martin first day, then Dave took us cross-country the next - big mistake, got lost, no lunch.
... their room at 3 o'clock in the morning! Later in the morning we got up and had breakfast before walking into town. We went to the local covered market which had a brilliant selection of food particularly seafood, we bought a pot of mixed seafood and had it for lunch with a baguette. We can both forsee many trips back there over the week to get more freshly caught seafood. After lunch we went for a warming coffee and are now back at ...

We left for La Rochelle early June 14th. Our guide says it's about a 4 hour drive. I slept most of the way. When we arrive we find our hotel is right on the harbor. We had dinner at a seafood restaurant. I've never really ate seafood in my life, but we had some fish and it was pretty good.
After dinner we were able to walk around the town for a few hours before our curfew. We walked around ...
