Up early today for a bicycle tour round the ancient city of Sukhothai. Sukhothai Bicycle tours is a family business and Miaow and her cousin Gob met us at the hotel with the bicycles. An early start of the day before the sun got too strong to visit the ruins. We got up at 6am while it was still pitch dark, and started heading to the ancient ruins at 7am. The Sukothai historical park was about 1.5km from our hotel so we walked there, watching the sun rise over the ruins as we arrived.

He also went with us to get the tickets as he would be able to get the best local price and would save us for being overcharged as we were quite clearly westerners. ... 1 a head by bus. Awesome place and extremely massive. Contains 4 different areas with separate entrance fees. We were advised to rent a bike, tuk tuk or motorbike to get around. We opted to walk it but after 4hrs we couldnt do it anymore and threw in the towel. We saw a lot great temples and shrines during our one day visit but to walk it definitely takes a few days to do. Beautiful rooms. Fabulous pool. Nice dinner and show at night. Loved the frogs that came out at night. Friendly staff. Cool ruins close by. Overall very happy we stayed here.
