In the evening after discovering a nice cheap eatery just outside the hotel we went to a cabaret show we had walked past on our first stop in Samui. Sarah really enjoyed this (more than is natural), and then we all went to a go-go bar after. Not really worth it if you ask me, but you have to try and experience these things, right?
... two year stint at the Rajabhat, we had a state of the art language lab, an ISC with many foreign teachers and the buzz word was ‘communication’ in relation to communicative language teaching (CLT). Back in 1990 we didn’t have access to the Internet or a language lab, so computer assisted language learning was not an option and teachers regularly used the Grammar Translation Method. CLT hadn’t really arrived in Thailand ...
Amphoe Ko Samui, Surat Thani, Thailand teflworld... was fantastic - beautiful resort for good prices on the quieter NorWest side of the island. Upon leaving the resort Isaac jumped off our scooter to say he felt bad and proceeded to powerchuck up for the next 10 minutes - I blame the chicken that must have had a bug of some sort. After this however he was fine! Next day we caught the early morning ferry to Koh Tao - looking forward to doing some diving!
Koh Phangan, Thailand tandiinsea... take up residence in a small no-name guest house for a meagre 80 Baht, I presume I could return to the Nathon Residence but I would rather not get "brutalised" by the Chinese receptionist lady who had an obvious interest in the shorttime trade and could very well get furious when she finds out I might have certain romantic feelings for a Chinese lady from Beijing but no interest in a Chinese receptionist lady with aspirations as ...
ko samui, Thailand farang020... Scuba Steve, who upon discovering we were from Oxford bought us several drinks. We were definitely not the drunkest girls in the bar as two were dancing on the bar by this stage and one guy preceded to fall over the bar on several occasions! It was then that we met Irish Jimmy (as he is actually known) sporting an Irish rugby shirt and a massive 2008 Guinness hat with a giant four leaf clover on top. Well this was all too much for Jess she demanded the hat and spent ...
Ko Phangan, Thailand melimeli... meaning men who came to Israel from Arab countries). I have only few memories of my father. I think my earliest childhood memory is lying in the upper bunk bed of our children's room trying to fall asleep while my parents were arguing in Arabic in the living room. My mother was shouting at my father and he was trying to appease her. Suddenly the door to our bedroom opened and my father entered it and hid behind the curtain that was right next to me. I still ...
Ko Phangan, Thailand yorron... but failed (Got lost!) we managed to duck into some pretty cool spots on the Island with the Suzuki before heading back to Bo Phut beach where we were staying (Much more chilled out) We went around to the Big Buddha cafe for dinner to catch and awesome sunset view and then went back to the hotelo, ready for the ride to Ko Pha-Ngan in the morning.
Ko Samui, Thailand bass_ke... On the third day when I could find nothing else to distract me from my tax returns any further I decided it was time to hit the beach. I ended up chatting to Nyi, K and Min, three Burmese guys working illegally in Thailand. They were working on the loungers on the beach. I ended up spending the day talking with them when they weren't working. They had all left Burma illegally when they were around 16 or 17 and had worked in Thailand for the past 3-4 years. They were ...
Thailand, Thailand mikesblogHey All, Haven't had the chance to update this in a while, but thats what happens when you travel. Ko Samui has some of the most awesome beaches, crazy drivers here apparently, but its a lot of fun. We haven't done much other than lie on the beach, but it has been good since we were last at Khao Sok National Park, and ...
