... down through the trees and Jen tried to persuade me that I wanted to go on it but I pointed out that I was wearing the wrong shoes, I certainly would have been up for it if properly shod (I don't think; the prospect of climbing up sheer ladders to a rickety platform in a swaying coconut tree or dangling from a somewhat suspect piece of string with no sign of a safety barrier brings me out in a cold sweat, there's a limit to the range of new experiences I'm willing to take on during this trip!)
Mae Nam, Koh Samui, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Thailand jenandtony... on to the beach. the weather has been not great for the last week or so, overcast and very muggy (not that i have got anything to complain about from what I am hearing back home) but the sea is rougher and stopped us from doing some island trips on the boat.we are hoping to go on a boat tomorrow to a national partk and do kayaking. Last kayak i did was with Gabe and frankie and we got round the point and a squall came over us so quickly ...
Ko Samui, Thailand timrob... for the guesthouse has a DVD player, for those lazy nights, as there was not much night life there. Victoria and Joey, running the place are the nicest people, really friendly and always happy to sit and drink/ chat/ sing along with you.
We found a cheap restaurant up the road, wher ethe owner was very amused by Victorias request for Pad-Thai but with yellow noodles :)
Oh yeah and the full ...
... quiet. We found some rocks and took a few pictures and decided to try and walk around the rock formations to see if we could find the spot on the beach were we thought the patch from the resort might come out. After sloshing around trying to keep from getting wet and climbing over and around several large rocks we made it around the end of the rock formations to find more rock formations. We headed back the way we came and Jessie almost stepped on ...
Ko Phangan, Thailand savageharmony... quicker than Kentucky Fried Cruelty churn through chickens, it had been well recommended. Our first task was to find a dive school, not much of a difficulty as five of the main schools had reps on the ferry. We quizzed them all and narrowed our choices down to "Big Blue" and "Big Bubble" both big according to their names, but both with pros and cons. We ended up choosing Big Blue, mainly because it had been recommended3d to us by a good ...
Ko Phangan, Thailand thomaswguy... left us alone. After that, we found the beach and had a drink at the bar, but I was pretty shaken up by the whole thing. Then on the way home there were more dogs (there are a lot of dogs here) growling and barking and so I tried not to have fear when I saw them. I guess one of the dogs wasn't a local and so suddenly two dogs rushed the poor thing and started mauling it. I renamed Nai Pan Yai 'Crazydog Beach'. We were happy to get back to our beach where the dogs are all ...
Ko Phangan, Thailand oandm... you were bored and you wanted to see some fish. Oh, and Aidess reminds me that there was a gym, too. Sort of LA Fitness after you've spent too much time on the Food Floor. I've never been to the Mall of America, so I can't compare to that. What I can say is that I've never been somewhere like this in my life, and I don't understand why in America, consumer-capitalist capital of the world, we don't have something ...
Ko Samui, Thailand appabob... made our disappearance when we thought the moment was right and when he wouldn't decide to follow us the few metres down the road to our hotel! and that marks our last day in vietnam, a place filled with nasty and nice people, beautiful landscape and horizons often blighted by ugly LEGO block constructions, a place of colour and tradition and a history of death and misery! nice! friday 21 november this morning, we're up and out and finding a quick breakfast, while sean goes ...
Ko Phangan, Thailand vickz_2Up at 8am on a cloudy morning, breakfast, finished packing, checked-out and in taxi for 9.45. A reasonable run through the Bangkok traffic to the new 'Suvarnabhumi airport', where we checked into the domestic flights for 'Koh Samui'. We were allocated to a different flight leaving half an hour earlier. As with the recent flight to Hanoi, once you go through the security check at the gate, they take any water from you and there is no chance of getting a drink until you're on ...
Koh Samui, Thailand harryandnorah... to turn it into what is now. It is not cheap either. Also, if you read the local paper there are quite a few articles about drug busts and dodgey bar owners. When you come to Thailand you will almost certainly be propositioned many times by some slick looking indian / nepalise man trying to selling you a suit. Well I was curious and decided to allow one to bring us into his shop and try and sell me something. I told him that I was definitely not buying a suit ...
