Thai Hotel Bangkok

Left Kuala Lumpur hotel at 9am for a 12.25 flight to Bangkok. All ran smoothly until I arrived as there was no-one to pick me up!! Cough, cough - splutter splutter... back in stinky old Bangkok!! At least we were acclimatised and the hotel had a pool! We only had a day to see things, so hot-footed around to a few places: the Grand Palace area was amazing, so much detail in the older parts - incredible colour and intricate mosaics, the different layers of the various centuries. And so to my final destination, Thailand. As is the norm now, my flight was delayed a couple of hours...so I hit the bar!! Sawasdee Ka! Between the two of us, we know quite a few people who have ventured to Thailand so we felt reasonably clued up on where to go, what to watch out for and how to haggle. Like predicted, upon arriving in Bangkok I discovered that I would be making this trip without my luggage. One interesting thing I've noticed though unrelated to that is when flying and traveling almost everyone uses hospital masks in fear of the Swine Flu. Well we arrived safely, did not get to see much of Doha (just the airport) and the flight across went well. I have to say how impressed we were with Qatar airways they really were superb and the long flights slipped by with constant snacks treats and the use of the onboard films and games. The food also was excellent and I will not hesitate using them again if the chance comes up. Bangkok was full of nutters and every one of them drives a taxi! Slept ok last night, woke at 2am and read a bit still not caught up on the jet lag just yet. I'm now blogging this on the Saturday while on a coach but we will come to that soon. Got a good sleep last night and went off to breakfast a bit late. We are heading out to the kings palace today, we barter with taxi driver (our daily ritual now) and off we go.
