In my last few days in Hong Kong I went to the big Buddha statue and then helped Evelynne pack up her flat as she is moving out of the city when she comes back from travelling. We then got a flight to Bangkok where we met Bambi and are now residing. I wish I had more to say as it's been a while since I updated the blog but to be honest we've just …

Bangkok: I'd been putting this off for eight weeks, and now it was time to face the chaos that is Bangkok. I thought it would be unbearable, but this city proved me wrong. I didn't fall in love with it, but I didn't dislike it either. In fact, after Phonm Penh, I have to say this was the second most enjoyable city on my trip. I really only looked …

Travel Bug: Landing in Bangkok

A travel blog entry by footprintsblog

Eventually, I arrived at Bangkok Airport on the Wednesday morning having not slept since Sunday night. I hadn't planned for being quite so exhausted on arrival, so hadn’t booked any transport or accommodation. Bad idea!! Naturally, I’d heard about Khao San Road, so that’s where I decided at that moment that that’s where it …

Seventeen Days in Bangkok, Thailand
February 20th to March 7th, 2012

Return to Bangkok

We have passed through Bangkok a half dozen times during our travels in Asia, usually for just a few days at a time. It's a major airline hub and good place to pick up visas for onward travel to other countries.

An organized chaos..

The news were terrifying: The worst floods of the last 50 years, road blocks everywhere, pictures of people in boats in the streets..

Nice place, get what you pay for. Staff are very friendly, only complaint would be that other people's keys seemed to work in our door..

pretty average for Bangkok, I suppose one has to pay more to actually get them to clean the rooms. The bathroom wasn't that clean. Very basic, free breakfast and wifi. Nothing special but it's just a few blocks away from Khao San Road and easy to get around from here.

It's location is really good, near Kaosan but not noisy! There are public buses near to go around the city and mini-buses to go to the airport. It's a 10min walk to the Grand Palace. The hosts are really nice and speak quite an understandable english! They've always answered to my e-mails quite fast. BF is good too. The rooms are simple, big bed, fridge, AC and clean toilet. I would stay there again!
