Early start as had long drive from Bloemfontein to Addo today. After filling up with petrol we took the N1 southwest towards Colesburg.
Stopped for a drink and break at Colesburg then onwards via N9. Long empty roads with numerous roadworks and contra flows. We feel all the roads in South Africa are being repaired at the same time!
The Anglo Boer War Museum and National Women's and Children's Memorial were on the agenda for today.
Looked around the museum, but found it a little confusing for those with little knowledge of the Afrikaaner nation and the Boer War. The Memorial is, however, a striking and moving tribute to those who died in the camps. The tablets on either side of the approach list the numbers of women and children who died in the concentration camps ...
Our journey will take us from the Indian Ocean to the Atlantic and we will travel over 2,500 miles. Some days you had to ignore all the tourist and adventurous stuff and just drive. That is what we did on Sunday and Monday. Our destination was the Addo Elephant Park.

... time I'm not going to take risks. In hostels it's often possible to meet people and go out for dinner/drinks as a group, but that's not so easy in hotels or quieter places.
Still, Bloemfontein is a nice enough place, even if there isn't really much specifically for tourists to see. Spent a day just wandering, stocking up on bits and pieces before heading over to Lesotho tomorrow.
