Our third day in Yellowstone allowed us to cherry-pick some things we wanted to do (again). After breakfast in our hotel room, we entered the park via the western entrance, and drove past Fire Hole Falls to enjoy the scenery. The Fire Hole river is a mountain stream, and, as such, should be ice cold. Due to the run-off of 4,000 gallons per minute of hot spring water from Midway Geyser Basin, ...

... the deep red of the surrounding hills. Dinner, drinks, and relaxing on the ranch was nice that evening. We sat on the porch swing overlooking the Tetons and watching Brian (the man who maintains the ranch) teach his kids how to wrap a lasso and catch each other. Each of his and Jodi’s kids are so sweet, help around the ranch, and spend most of their time outdoors. It’s lovely to see them playing. But it does make me think about how harsh the winters are and how ...

We woke up and it was freezing cold. We packed up our stuff, had a power bar. Maeve all of a sudden yelled out"OW!", and her tooth fell out of her mouth and it wasn't't even loose! We decided to call the camping spot and pass Lost Tooth Gap. We put Maeve's tooth in a bag and headed out. We were going to stop later for breakfast because it was freezing. We passed the sign that said we were out of the camping zone. A few up ...

... going down. Before we went down we had a very long break next to a glacier lake, lie down in snow. We saw some thing move that we thought was a Fisher. On the way down Maeve and Eileen, my mom saw a pheasant. There were huckleberries all along the trails so Maeve and I, Molly, took as meant as we could. We had been hiking through a berry area when my Dad said that he saw a cub. My mom ushered Maeve and I forward while we tried to ...

... program on the history of Teton and how it actually became a National Park. We learned a lot we never would have known, and Maeve and Ava got to hold elk and moose antlers and a bison skull.

It was getting dark and time to settle in. It was a cool night, getting into the 40’s overnight, and we fell asleep to the mountain air and sounds of nature outside our little home away from home. We were living our ...
