... was the heart of Munich with its most historical buildings. I wanted to get there by 11 to see the highly recommended Glockenspiel on top of the majestic Rathaus. The glockenspiel involved colourful figurings mechanically engineered to re-enact events in the city's history. I didn't know much about Munich's history but a puppet show on top of an old building, sure I'd go!

I got to Marienplatz 5 minutes before 11. The shops on either side were still closed. ...

... crowds, broken beer stubbies, puddles of spew, and three people passed out in various positions! It was only 6:30pm. I got the feeling these next few days were going to be fun and very messy! I was excited! I managed to successfully navigate through the crowds and check into my hotel, and settled in to what was going to be my home for the next four nights. When I got into my room, I found a really nice welcome package with a big bottle of Oktoberfest beer, ...

    The German Rhine Valley

... got to go wine tasting. We went up to a family owned group of stores where the two sons were in charge of the wine shop. All the products were sourced locally and we got white, red and ice wine to taste. The ice wine is very interesting. The grapes have to be picked at -7 degrees or they cannot legally be called 'ice wine'. This wine is only found in the Rhine Valley and ...
