We took off from Salzburg and started our trek back to nature by passing through a very steep mountain pass replete with lots of long tunnels. Before heading into Lake Bled, we decided to take a stop off at Vintgar Gorge (about 2.5 miles north of Bled) and take Rick Steve's recommended hike (can you tell we really rely on this guy?!).

Of the Balkan states we visited, Bosnia Herzegovina and Montenegro have not recovered from the war of the 90s to the same extent as others.
