... I don't think they're quite up to that! So we drive down. Sete Cidades is not just the name of the crater, but the village or Parish (as we are learning they're called here) of Sete Cidades. On the bank of the twin lakes, one blue and one green, it's a small place with a small feel. Who decides "I think we should build a place in the bottom of this volcanic crater. What could possibly be wrong with that?

Up to a nicer day today. No rain and warm...
...er.
Stepped out the front door and grabbed the morning bread. Put a bag out in the evening with some coins and get fresh bread at the door at 6:30 am, mmm! Don't need to put out $1 (1 euro equals $1.50 Cdn), now we have a FULL grocery bag of fresh Portuguese buns! 10 euro cents a bun. (Oh but Europe is SO expensive...)
Getting our legs under us and making plans for the day...

... with curves, so it takes more time to cover the distances. A lush green hilly landscape which reminded Donna of Costa Rica, beautiful in spite of the storm raging.
The house is lovely, everything we need for the week. Although we booked the majority of our accommodation through Airbnb for this trip, Vivenda Xavier came from Tripadvisor's new vacation rental site. No complaints here, beautiful ocean views right from the living room ...

San Miguel is the largest of the 9 islands that make up the archipelago of the Azores. Beautiful, green and mountainous, not that we could see them as it is mid winter, wet and rainy. We only had a few hours and we would need a week to enjoy all the sights that are on offer. So it is a quick trip to the north side of the island. ... when we get the sunsets (at least I hope so). Their company is very good even though many have sailed round the world several times they are all very down to earth no aires and graces on our table so it's a pleasure to go to dinner. The cabaret was a violinist (not quite my cup if tea) his musical ability was brilliant but he lacked a bit of I'm not quite sure what, let's just say he didn't have the charm or charisma of the likes of Robbie Williams, but not bad all the same. ...
