... Last night saw our hero in The Nelson Tavern with Micky and Christian where local custom has it that free food is available on the bar if you buy a drink. It's called aperitivo.

... and ours had free on board wifi. Of course, I didn't bring the iPad but I did have my iPhone and even with a low battery, got Mom onto her email. The first part of our journey was a 40 minute ride to Lucca with everyone in our van very quiet as we all were stocking up on free wifi that worked great. ... it was just too much wine, the erratic mixture of wines or both, my bus ride concluded in an undignified and unpleasant fashion. I wasn't the only one, but suffice to say I spent the evening resting, sleeping and feeling pretty lousy. Watching Arsenal beat Spurs 1-0 did slightly lift my spirits, and Nat was kind enough to look after me.
Tomorrow, I will have to pull myself together for a huge 10 hour tour. We are heading to Rome and Vatican ...

From there we walked to Piazza della Signoria where there was yet another copy of Michealango's famous statue of David as well as lots of other sculptures under a covered but open building and not to mention various statues dotted around the Square - quite amazing works of art so accessable to people.

From here, we were given 45 mins to explore this area and do an easy 5 min walk if that to Ponte Vecchio, the famous bridge with many gold and silver ...
