... shouldn't have taken the first agent's word for it. Seemed to be ships sailing at all hours - must surely have been one with space on it overnight? Definitely the only way to do this route. However, we get by: but I wouldn't recommend Ventourist line: cheap, for sure; but tacky -very, very tacky!Another night in an anonymous port.

Bari, Apulia, Italy marcdolav... on the show. One of the homicide detectives, Ed Burns, is co-creator of The Wire. You get the idea. It's a great finale for anyone who's finished the show and is suffering from withdrawal (for anyone who hasn't watched the show, DO SO NOW).

I bought Homicide at a Waterstones attached to one of those Little Chef rest stops the weekend Rachel, Sundeep and I rented and drove a car to the Cotswolds ...
Bari, Puglia, Italy david_chung... a taxi that you haven't called. Jyles insisted though.
I checked the locks on the doors before I got in, and made sure I could escape. It was legitimate, but in a normal situation I would have said no.

We got to the ferry terminal just on time. Since it was an overnight ferry, we got bunk beds and had an awesome sleep.
Bari, Puglia, Italy burles... Dan got a map of Pompeii and we saw like 1/16 of the ruin! I was dissapointed we couldn't see more but Enzo did say that it would take 2 days to see all of the ruin. The bus ride from Pompeii to Bari was a few hours, we stop for a snack/lunch/toilet break after a few hours. Dan and I had a calzone and a drink, we bought some onion pretzels, pepsi and paprika italian pringles for munchies on the ferry.
We made the ferry on time ...
Bari, Puglia, Italy jasndanThe most surprising thing I found before leaving England was that no one even know where Basilicata was! Even friends who thought they knew Italy well weren't aware of Basilicata as its not very well known. On the plane from Stansted, most of the English people we spoke were going on holiday to visit family or friends and most were staying in Puglia, not Basilicata.

If you're planning to visit Basilicata, you will defintely need ...
Bari, Puglia, Italy louise123... also on the train (we ended up seeing them again later). They were an Australian couple.

We took our final train to Bari. When we got there we ran into 3 other back packers who happened to be from (believe it or not) SPOKANE, WASHINGTON!!! Unbelievable.

We took a bus to the ferry terminal, booked our ferry ride. Went back to the city for dinner and to get food for ...
Bari, Puglia, Italy stresskind... ATMS in site. So we headed off in a random direction with our packs on our backs. We'd gotten maybe a mile down when we reached a dead end. There was a large electric fence, but the guard on the other side with the gun would not open it for us. We weren't about to argue with him, so we turned back around and headed back to the port. We noticed a bunch of people, including several backpackers, waiting around the street for a ...
Bari, Italy connieyc... which meant with the rail pass, I got paid passage (13 euros, not bad) by sitting in a doorway of one of the train cars. When seats became empty, no one encouraged me or my two unfortunate companions from England who had no railpass and therefore had to pay full fare plus a charge for no ticket (the train was allegedly full so they couldn't get any tickets!!! - nice to see someone is worse off than me haha... ahhhh that is sick) which turned ...
Bari, Italy ashygagThe Mir (officially known as miranda, but we don´t let anyone know that) have officially departed from each other. It was a rushed good bye, but it wasn´t so much a good bye as much as it was a see you later. I'm not gonna lie, I was scared of travelling with a girl ( a high rolling NYC girl, hehe) and worried that it would go horribly wrong. But it actually turned out ...
