Day 3 & the 3 musketeers set off for the last day of our bike trip. A great downhill ride with magnificent views once again. The tour took us right through the centre of town before reaching our hotel at about 2.30 pm. Loved it but glad to be off the bike! Enjoyed a well deserved bottle of prosecco to celebrate the challenge of our ride. So proud of us all Tomorrow sees us headed for Torino (Turin) via fast train from Firenze (Florence) to start our cheese tour on ...

Yes, I know. We were in Italy last fall. But really, how can you ever tire of Italy? We left YVR August 28 @ 4:30 on Swiss Air, which actually was a charter flight on Edelweiss Air. Four thirty p.m. was too early. By the time you are ready to ...

In 1348 the plague wiped out much of the population ...

Today we were off to Florence! We had a local guided tour around the town which was great, then we went later on to the Uffizi Gallery...it houses original works by Botticelli (Birth of Venus), Leonardo's 'The Annunciation', & Michaelango's 'Tondo Doni'...we wandered down later to the Galleria dell' Accademia and saw the staggering original 'David' sculpture, he is 516cm tall and weighs 5660kg - it is truely beautiful to ...

... del Campo, lying in the sun. Il Campo stages a horse race twice a year with riders from the various families which must be amazing to see. It is a sloping, semi-circle area - not what you would think would be ideal for a no holds bar horse race!

We then visited the Duomo - amazing building. Lots of marble black and white stripes inside and out, which made a nice change to the other cathedrals we had seen previously. ...
