      ... decorated with frescos, it would take hours to study each panel on the ceiling alone, and give you a very stiff neck! The large font is decorated with bronze panels depicting the life of St John the Baptist.
      The last museum was across town, we walked the 2 or so kilometres to find that it was closed for restoration. We retraced our steps back to the centre for a look around the shops, but as it was early afternoon most were shut.

      ... changed it in August not long before we left the UK. He will have to take a better look at it in the morning. It was very cold again in the evening, we decided to leave the oven on, set on low to keep us warm, as it has a thermostat it worked very well. Our other heating doesn't have a thermostat so sometimes it gets too hot and then we have to switch it off. When we went to bed we set the timer for it to stay on for a few ...

      There was some sort of race, maybe a duathalon just finishing in the main Piazza, looked like my kinda race - most of the competitors were handed bottles of wine at the finish line! We wandered around the cute little streets and alleyways and found a nice restaurant for lunch. We had delicious pasta and risotto and then walked some more and stumbled across the ruins of an amphitheatre which impressed the kids and Shelton.

      Well a part of the holiday I have been looking forward to has finally arrived; we are in Tuscany. I had a diggin's of a time settling on accommodation here as I weren't sure how long it would take to drive around and I also wanted to get a feel of the countryside. I ended up booking this place cos it looked beautiful, had a big pool and was close to San Gimignano, Greve and Siena.       Awake at 1:00am - what is that all about? Stayed in bed until 6:30 reading The Age then into the shower (and they have lovely fluffy towels here) then did my laundry.
