After another very nice lunch with Mr. Mrs. Audoin, we drove to the hotel where we would have services and the wedding. We had a brief rehearsal to make sure all the details were covered.
Several people drove in from other areas, Normandy and Poitiers, so we had a larger group than usual in Bordeaux. At 2:30 we had our Sabbath service. I gave a brief news update on things that had happened since the Feast ...
I had needed to get out...
I was starting to get a little antsy with things in Paris...Needless to say, one of my classes are really starting to get on my nerves, and it's not just because of the kids...
Aaaaaaaaaaaaanyways...I went on a whim and bought a ticket to Bordeaux to visit a friend out here.
Get out, get out right now!!!
Bordeaux is really nice (change of scenery). I ...
... on the quality of the fruits and vegetables. Things must be just ripe and at their best, not picked a week early for shipment somewhere. As a result the salads and raw vegetables served with vinaigrettes of various kinds are wonderful. I made a meal of the salad bar and was quite content.
After dinner I worked on preparing the sermon I will give tomorrow. And I decided to make an early night of it. As I was working I received a text message from my good friend ...
This morning I was up and out of the hotel just after sunup for the drive to Charles de Gaulle airport. I arrived with plenty of time, and filled the tank with diesel before turning the car in. The flight to Bordeaux left at 1:10 and arrived on time about 2:30. On our take-off route over Paris, we again had a pretty clear view of the city. The Eiffel Tower is the easiest landmark to ...
Merignac, Aquitaine, France joelmeeker... we visited two wineries. We were given tours and information on their wines and winemaking, and tasted some of their wines. We also got to visit Chateau Margaux - ok, the bus stopped out the front just for a look, but it was great to get a glimps.
Bordeaux, Aquitaine, France frewcandy... Tour" of this appellation. The tour integrated wine and pate tasting at four Gran Cru Classes chateaux (where I learned all about the 1855 Classification), a wonderful 4-course meal (including an amazing honey-balsamic duck and French cheeses) and a tour of the countryside inclusive of the area's history from a gravelly glacier field (during the Ice Age) to bog (6th Century) to producing some of the world's most sought after ...
Bordeaux, France texaspeyton... the river that has a huge reflecting pool. But since it's winter it was empty. Great. We walked around some more and saw the cathedral and stuff. Then we ran back to her place and grabbed some dinner. After dinner, we met up with some of her friends, Katelyn from California, and Sarah from Wales. They were both really nice and fun. 2/21/09 We woke up and just walked around some more. Bordeaux is kind of like Nantes; it's a really nice city but there's not much ...
Bordeaux, Aquitaine, France manu29... back in the traffic of Versailles again and had to go around the same streets again. We eventually found ourselves back at the same exits again and after baulking Mandy that I was going down the Paris one again I managed to take the right exit. The trip from Paris to Bordeaux supposedly should take about 6 - 7 hours, so finally we were starting to make some progress. We drove on for a couple of hours but made slow progress because ...
