... hour traffic. Wasn't sure whether to laugh, cry or pray!!!! It soon dawned on us that they also didn't have lights our presumption being that they were saving on costs. Our next decision was, do we walk back to the hotel or endanger our lives once more. Dodgem cars won! The centre of the city was bustling with families eating out as usual and the city lights burning up electricity.
... with 8 million people. The climate is awesome in the 50s and 60s this time of year and it is nice not to be zoiling with the Careys. The area where we are staying is very green and mitigates the pollution to a degree. I am excited to run outside. It is hard to believe on the 29th we will have been gone for 4 months.

... even in Xian, which is further south, it is FREEZING. We had a very heavy fog and rain all day. After dinner, we just could not get our room warm. When I called down to ask if something was the matter with the heating system, I was told that the Central Government controls all heating, so there is no heat allowed. I asked her when this started (thinking maybe 5:00 or 6:00pm) and was told March 17. One of the joys of being in a centrally-planned economy I guess.

The cute way they follow each other around and stop and scent mark with their bums at random points now is not so cute and could be a sign of stress. Someone else said that when her cat does this a lot, this is what it means. So are the red pandas continuously stressed at being cooped up all together when they are solitary creatures by nature, with nowhere to hide, a food bowl plonked down and bamboo set down in the same places with one branch and the top of ...
... I have been itching to do since Ray Mears showed it and the last couple of countries but with monsoon weather it has been too wet. Great news...Tiger has tried it before but not been able to do it but is full on for trying it again. If only for the fact he can use his knife again - he loves his knife!! Tiger isn't his real name by the way, all the locals here working for the I to I have given themselves English names -Peter, Dora etc.
