... and getting to and from the island, worked fine. However, everyone else going to the island was either Turkish families or tour groups with their own transport. I was led to believe that the minibus regular runs back. I was misled. So after waiting for a while, because the minibus driver kept telling me we would leave when there was some more people, I realized he was just trying to fleece me to charge me a personal rate to bring me back, ...

... had been the cause of my misery the night before, I discovered that the only place for wifi was in their reception. I hadn’t seen it the night before given that I was rushed, like an A&E patient, to my room via dinner. However, on inspection that morning I found rivers of tears running down my cheeks. A travel blog entry by laurareane on Oct 10, 2010

... It was neat to see them, but I really hope something positive starts happening there. The living conditions were just so poor.  Along the drive to Van we were supposed to stop at Hasankeyf. It is an ancient city that is located on a river. Unfortunately, it was closed. 2 months ago a stone fell and killed someone so we were unable to even walk up to it. We were able to take some photos from across the river and it was very impressive. You could see just how massive it ...
