... to Kars, in the northeast. I found a family who rented me a room in Doguybeazit (by Mt Ararat), and yes Erin, they had chickens (pic included)! As Mt Ararat is a closed military area do to its proximity to the Iran and Armenian borders, I didn't feel like dealing with the 2 day to 2 week bureaucratic hassle of getting a permit, nor the fee required, to climb the mountain. ... appeared that people either turned up for lunch while visiting the mountain, or stopped late at night and awoke early & left to see the sunset. This was confirmed by the 35 people who descended to be fed at lunch and the 40 Japanese tourists who at 8pm replaced the early departed from that morning and who would repeat the march of the wheely cases the next morning, much to my shagrin!
