        ... bridge and found the Charles river where we saw a ferry going through the old lock, no longer working, but with the gate houses still intact. Walked along the river, very pleasant, crossed an even bigger pedestrian bridge and caught the train at a nice new station with much construction going on around it back to the hotel.         ... is fun; once you slide down, they shuttle you back up the hill in a sled pulled by a snowmobile. We stayed out about 1 hr 45 min. Depending on the snow conditions, the hill can be either fast or slow and today it was relatively fast.

        Back at the ranch at 12:30pm we had a lunch buffet which consisted of salad bar and 3 types of chili: bean and beef, chicken green chili and vegetarian. There were also toppings to put on it such as onions, ...

        ... historic sights. Back at the hostel it was time to pack and get sorted. Upon leaving the bathroom I was reminded of the old people home I was in, as following me down the corridor was a lady being wheeled out on her bed by an ambulance crew!! I'm so happy to be our of here ...

        ... in Boston. Well...actually, that isn't true. I technically met Jess afterwards at the Green Dragon when we went out drinking with everyone from the wedding, as you do. Jess's brother knew the groom and was at the wedding, Jen Angelo (below) and I knew the bride and the rest is history. Jess was in bookclub with me for many years, is mom to a sweet black lab named Abby, is an excellent baker and an afficionado of all things sweet.

        Not a good start to our morning or journey from Boston to Chicago. Got woken at 5am with the sound of hotel fire alarm but no announcement. No on knew exactly what to do. By the time we through some valuables in a bag the all clear was announced. Got back into bed and 10 minutes later the same announcement came over the PA. A little annoying to say the least.
