... I came up yesterday.
After taking the fork the road down this section heads down into a massive deep valley and gently drops as it hugs the edge of the mountain.
After about 5 or so miles the valley becomes narrow and the road starts twisting its way down a magical pass in all directions. Some of the pass has been reconstructed over the years and various sections of old road can be seen as I descend.

... our very good friends, Ingrid and Frank Kunstel, was especially amazing. We've known each other for over 40 years, so we know each other well. We have a nice rhythm of traveling and being together. Seeing all this with them, experiencing it together, enhanced every minute.

pleasant driving. This is a main north-south arterial route.
Stopped at Camping Corones. Luxurious site, with heated
sanitary facilities and a heated outdoor pool, but somehow we did not like it.
Full of Germans and very “ordered” parking.
The weather has been better than expected. Low cloud
initially in Cortina but then improving. No rain at all, despite the forecast,
other than the odd spot or two. Just goes to show that the forecasting in this
region is a black art still.
Left Camping Olympia and headed towards Corvara in Badia

are there to be explored.
We walked back down the mountain to Passo Falzarego,
catching the bus back into town (too far to walk and glad we didn’t even try).
Shopped for groceries (EuroSpin, Pian da Lago) before returning to Fiames. All
in all, a fabulous day, with excellent weather.
