Now you see it.. now you don't

We were planning to go to Liechtenstein but thought we may as well as it was sort of on our way. It's the worlds 6 smallest country so it would have been rude not to go..haha.

We didn't drive to the main town but to another.. where really there wasn't anything. I did get a photo with the tourist sign though. Had to somehow prove I'd been there!

And CHEESE!!

... can watch all the processes they go through to make the cheese, which was pretty interesting! We watched the cheese-makers go through all the processes for quite a while and had a drink at in the restaurant before going back to Gossau for an authentic cheese Fondue!

We got up early the next morning and said goodbye to Heinz and Elsa, and caught our 1st train to get to Prague. It took us about 10.5 hours to get there.. LOOOOOONG time sitting on trains!!

... Feldkirch I got lost. Actually I was just trying to get to McDonald's because the group wanted a bathroom break and the public toilets here were not to our standards. Anyway, I drove past the McDonald's twice - once my fault and once the navigator's - and drove down a pedestrian only section of road before we gave up and continued on our journey out of town and deeper into Austria.

... can't take photos in the library and I can describe in words the beauty of the library sufficiently. Let's just say if you have the chance, go take a look.

It was time for food so we found a little cafe and had a bite to eat before tracking down my parents again. They were hungry because they had been waiting for us before they ate (oops!) so we returned to the same cafe and they had a quick meal before we returned to the car. Next stop: Austria!

... the pedestrian street. I also stopped for a bite to eat in a small kebab eatery.

On the bus back to Sargans, I got off at a stop in Balzers so I could check out another castle - the one we passed on the bus journey to Vaduz. This one is also a private one, it turns out, so I couldn't go inside it either. It sits on top of a steep hill wrapped in vineyards. I walked around a bit until another bus came along and headed back to Sargans.

Appenzell

... that maybe we can't quite face the uphill ride all the way back to camp. We surrender to taking a train back to Appenzell, but we still have to get back up our hill to the camp. We meet a really wicked Swiss dude on the train on the way to his brothers house for a visit. We get chatting and he tells us a bit about Appenzell and St Gallen. He even gave Simon a beer. When we get to Appenzell we try to cycle up our hill to the camp. Simon can do it ...

If it's Tuesday, it must be Zürich!

Cheese and chocolate, army knives and cow bells, punctuality and politeness. Yes, where else could we be but Switzerland! As we flew in over the picture-perfect hills, woods and farmland surrounding Zürich, we could already see what a trim and orderly little country this is nestled in the heart of Europe. Still fiercely independent, it has retained a truly democratic political system built on referendum votes and significant local powers at the Canton level. By managing to ...
