... the coast of Brazil. The only turtles they have are ones that have been injured and then kept in human care for too long to be returned to the wild. The amount that turtles have gone up since the creation of this project is from around 8000 known turtles to over 2 million. I'm sure there are some lurking variables, but that is still amazing. ... br> As I was on cook duty I had to sort lunch before I could head for the water, a hot 30 minute walk got us to the beach - lovely white sands and blue seas but as the tide was out a rocky entry to the water - never mind there was plenty of room to float.
After reviving in the warm Atlantic Ocean off to the turtle reserve - no babies wrong time of the year but the turtles that were there are beautiful.

We sat on the steps and, eventually, got up and demonstrated our pairs of left feet. 75% of the crowd was smoking marijuana, despite the small group of nonchalant police officers standing on the top level.
