... A helpful woman explained that it was a sake tasting festival- you bought a sake cup then could taste as many sakes as you wanted from local producers from 12.30 - 4.30pm. There must have been around 50 sakes on offer! We bought a variety of food - we have no idea what some of it was- some was great - others very weird. ... There is very little luggage space on the train so good thing we only had 1 bag. The train took us north towards the Alps. Soon we were surrounded by snowy peaks and frosty roofs. The blossom trees got better & better as obviously the cooler weather means a later season. At our hotel in Matsumoto we have a Japanese style room. Monday was our last day in Japan. We were flying out till later that evening so we had the morning in town then caught the bus and shinkansen back to Tokyo. We dropped our bags off at Tokyo station and walked around Ueno and Ginza before we caught the Narita express out to the airport and onto our flight home.
