      ... boats these days and they aren't as cheap as they used to be. It cost us a pound each to go the 30 yards from the jetty to the beach and to be fair I didn't really fancy swimming that last stretch with a back pack, a day pack and a carrier bag full of washing that I hadn't managed to dry in time in Langkawi.       So today is the day we have our speedboat journey to the teeny tiny island of Ko Lipe. We picked this place because from here you can cross the border in to Malaysia and our next destination, Langkawi. But first we need to get to Lipe.

      We enjoy our breakfast at the beach, pay our bill and settle down to wait for our ride. It soon turns up and we squeeze ourselves in with the rest of the happy travellers off looking for another island paradise. We get to the pier, check in ...

      ... on the beach with a small cafe and six cottages in the back of the property-it does not take bookings-if theres something available its yours for 1000 baht a night-expensive by my standards but the cheapest you are going to find on the beach.I spend 4 or 5 glorious days on the beach-the white powdery sand between my toes and water as clear as crystal clear for hundreds of yards.Great snorkelling and diving and truly a paradise still!!!
