... so its all new to me. On the map it looks good and sure enough it sure was.

At first the road twisted and turned all the way along the edge of a mountain and finally came out at the summit which looked down into a great valley. One could follow the road for miles as it hugged the edge of the mountain and made its way to the valley floor below.

I cannot remember what pass this was but it was certainly worth doing.

... remain in our hearts as our favorite European city. We were awed by the northern city of Bolzano and so thankful we got to experience the Dolomites. We were enchanted by the magic of the lakes, especially Lake Como, with low-lying clouds, misty mornings, twinkling evening lights. Everywhere, we were treated with kindness -- and treated to the most fabulous food, especially pasta, and wine.

... from an old wooden look out and a walk around the area. Wine tasting followed at the outlet next to our hotel and of course a bottle purchased and half drunk before dinner. A check of local restaurants revealed Fischebank which is a Bruschetta specialist cafe. We shared the local special which was like a deconstructed bruschetta with great cheese and a glass of LeGrein. We managed 88 kilometers today, mostly along old railroad grades along a river. We know we are in Italy, but it still feels like Austria. ... air had cooled but was still lovely. Next was a narrow gauge railway journey though a magnificent vista of mountains and forest, so beautiful, clean and pristine. Cable cars are great, I love them and this one is fairly new. Coming back down was amazing too and I think we will do it again tomorrow and follow one of the many walking trails available.
