... nestled between the mountains with snow all around and a ski run just out of town, you could not ask for a more picture perfect place. The photo's don't do it justice. We went for a drive to the top of town to take some pictures & it was just amazing. We thought we would try and find the Ice Rink to see if they had a gift shop for some bits for the kids and they were hosting the Italian National Short Track Speed Skating Championships! ... by too many dumplings and huge slabs of ribs washed down with dark Dunkl beer. Bolzano reminds me of Salzberg old town and tonight we have sampled the White Horse which actually did offer a sirloin horse steak. I started looking for hotel signs. Followed a few signs but didn't find anything. I was driving through a valley with lush hills on both sides and streams flowing along the road. Just after Spinedi-Ca' San Giorgio I saw a hotel and restaurant on the side of the road, with parking. Perfect!


Friendly staff that spoke enough English, good price. Wifi and a good restaurant. What a day!

... mountains up ahead. I stopped somewhere on the way up to the summit, below the clouds and it was a brilliant view. As I continued I headed into the clouds and it started to get really cold and wet. My fingers were cold, and I used a trick I learned in Norway. Whenever you can, put your hands on the engine block and get some warmth into the fingers, especially the clutch fingers.
