... this begins at Bormio.
We begin to climb....all ok..then come to a sign advising 'narrow rd'...they weren't jokingly! It was 1 vehicle width & had flimsy barrier on one side, more to advise you where the road ended I believed, as it was not going to stop you tumbling down the sheer drop.

... at the top we saw that the walking tracks zig zagged the train tracks through the countryside and many walkers were using the train to break or extend their routes. In hindsight a train ticket would have added even more to the day. There are 2 further cable cars that travel up to 2260m, which would be great to explore, but we begin cycling ...
... their lives.....we reach the top and the air is thin and cool and the view also takes your breath away......getting close to the edge the legs feel like jelly at the impossible drop to the lower slopes below......the 360 view across the valleys is an inspiration, we pause to watch the downhill bikers make there descent and I am thinking they are nuts....one slip up and its good night!
... br> We are discovering that the farther we get out of the main city, the less they speak English. We had dinner here at the hotel and no one spoke any English. She explained as best she could and we just pointed at the words and waited for our meal. All I can say is that we were the only ones in the resturaunt that ended up with the vegetarian meal. Darn, next time we'll just tell them we want what the people next to us had.
