foods that I missed so much...
It was nice to have some foods that I used to have for 4 years, 1999-2003.

I had grilled TianBuLa, quite nice...

... so I had to tell them not to punish but encourage their child to listen. It was a good night and it was nice meet some of the parents.

Thursday:
Thursday was my first night of Chinese lessons. There are 10 teachers from Cornel taking lessons at the university very close to school. I am very excited about it and am hoping that I can pick up a little Chinese while I am here. Our first day consisted of trying to learn all the sounds that they use in the ...
Yingge, TW.04, Taiwan ashleysblog... The next question was 'What do you like to do with your friends'? Another student, by the name of Sam put his hand up and said 'Make babies'. At this point I was like...'Good lord, what HAVE I gotten myself into"?! LOL. In subsquent classes they always found ways to sneak in sexual inuendos (usually involving a chimpanzee, I'm not quite sure I understand their obssession with the word...and/or animal). I finally had to tell them they ...
Taoyuan, Taiwan athena... Disco is where all the Vietnamese, Filipinos, Laotians, Cambodians and of course...Thai people go to party. I had never been there before and was rather curious. Thai Disco is this dark place in the basement. They play a nice mix of Amercian music as well as pop music from the various countries represented at the Disco. I danced my lil' heart out and met one of the newer teachers: Emil. He had been to Taiwan before...apparently he comes here, makes ...
Taoyuan, Taiwan athena... I was doing on Sunday and I told him that I had no plans. He said he would call me and maybe we could do something. I was overjoyed. Sunday morning came...and I headed over to the dorm because I needed to get some work done. I saw him on Facebook and sent him a message, asking him indirectly what his plans for the day were. He said he planned on sleeping and then abruptly went offline. I sent him a message saying that when he was awake he would perhaps like to go grab a bite to ...
Taoyuan, Taiwan athena... can say they have done that in their lifetime. The next day Meghan and I walked around Taipei for a bit and then I took the train home to rest some more while she stayed in Taipei and did some sightseeing. Item #2: After having had some issues (my original application was rejected cuz the person I piggybacked with got rejected) and spending some $150 on assorted paperwork...I was able to get legalized in Taiwan. I am an official resident and get to pick up my Alien ...
Taoyuan, Taiwan athena... bit like I was house sitting a rich friends place. Great digs.. just a little "stuff" if you catch my drift. ) This is where I spent most of my "at home" time.. in the living room playing games or watching movies The kitchen and dining room, the place that I didn't use that much. no dish washer, but a dish dryer.. bit diferent. Though I did use the dining table with my laptop, when it worked. :(
Taipei, Taiwan enderwiggin... are pretty much gone, but I got more medicine just in case. No more shots for me. :p After dinner, we went to optometrist in Banqiao. My vision was okay, but Eric needed new glasses because his astigmatism got worse. Now he's got ones that look like mine. We also ended up scheduling a photosession at Italy Milano because Mom has been promising one ever since we passed up getting some my senior year in high school
Banqiao, Taiwan maverickranger... advertised on a board I see none. Some men at a grocery shop ask me what I do and give me a Sports Drink. I walk to the police station to ask for a homestay or any other place to stay. To my luck the policeman is just a few days stationed here and is not yet very familiar with the village. He offers me to camp on the other side of the road on the covered basketball court. Whether the church offers a place to stay he can't say, but asks a man ...
Nanshan ( No. 7 ), Taiwan kurtmult... when you can't even see them, and then whole barrages at 3am when no one is awake to see them. grrrr.... Another important tradition is the giving of "hong bao", basically long red envelopes the size of a banknote. Elders and married couples give the envelopes to children and unmarried adults during the New Year celebrations. There's always money inside - at school they were super generous enough to give the kids a dollar each (A little under 2p ...
Neili, Taiwan horizonboundI dragged my ass back to the hotel around 3am, b/c our driver was picking us up at 5:30am to go to Phuket airport! With barely 2 hours of sleep again in my system, exhaustion was finally catching up to me. We passed out in the car for the 3 hour drive to Phuket, and flew to Bangkok that morning to catch our 1pm flight to Taiwan. We got to see the new Bangkok airport again and I still can't believe how big it is ...
