Water Village

We visited a garden whilst in the water village which was of a similar to those in Suzhou, we strolled along the pathways and over the bridges alongside the water and it was a lovely, pretty setting, a surprise after taking the industrial waterways to get there. The area was full of restaurants mainly selling fish (all available to view alive in tanks – even turtles) and of course lots of tourist shops,

Next we took a walk through the market. There were a wide variety of items like staves, BB guns, jewelry and magnets. I got six super strong magnets, Charlie got a flying top and Mom got pearls, clothes, and a picture.

Then we looked at a bunch of boring residences, all of these were almost exactly the same. Finally we went on a 20 minute boat ride on a small canal.

“Eat this! Try this! Eat more!” Stephanie’s aunt said a few minutes later as we ate.

“No, I really can’t, but it is very good,” I said. “I’m sorry ...

... connected with bridges and comprised of outside gardens. It was such a huge place I'm pretty sure most of us had any idea that we were touring a HOUSE. The different rooms each told a different story which we learned about along the way. The women's room, had lower ceiling than the men's, indicating a lower rank in the household. The chair's were different in room's, indicating the level of prestige that men had to have to be invited into them. The women's tea ...

Venice Baby! / Zhouzhuang

... is how these restaurants make any money if everyone serves the same dishes? I guess the sheer number of "red hats" can keep all the restaurants' heads above water. In the canals we can see a line of row boats filled with tourists. Each boat has one person working a single oar at the aft (back end) of the boat and 6-8 passengers. Interestingly, most of the "red hats" are sitting along the canal or ...

But, this was literally the grossest thing I've had to do up to now and so I will say that if you really want to hear the story sometime I will tell it, but not here. May your journeys through China be an improvement even from the first day. I highly recommend booking your train tickets in advance if you're going to be in Qingdao headed, well, anywhere!
