Very nice 10 hour stay. We had a 12 hour layover in Dar es Salaam between flights and chose this hotel to hang out in. It was nice, roomy and clean. We ate dinner at the cafe and the food was good. Overall the staff could have been friendlier. But as a place to stay, I'd recommend it.

The donated pencils and exercise books will be used for school work, so thank you very much once again to all those who have donated, it is all very much appreciated and accepted with much gratitude by everyone over here. Below is the school day timetable (after being confused by the times for a few days, I had it explained today that the Tanzanian day starts at 6am (where their clock starts for the day) so what they ...

... lot of hand washing this week, also mopped the floor (borrowed my friends mop so not have to hand clean) not that you can tell I even did it due to all the dust... Awoke yesterday morning to my first lot of heavy rain, sadly it is not refreshing or cooling rain, just wet! It did feel strange though to be walking to work in short sleeve shirt and a summer skirt when it was pelting down with rain! It only lasted till mid morning but did mean it was a cooler day ...

... what exactly I was doing.

Fortunately, the Friendly Gecko guesthouse was a great place to begin. As you can see from the photos, it was comfortable, with well ventilated dorm rooms, and located just outside of the city. I immediately made friends upon chatting with some of the guests, and also had the opportunity to meet the volunteers. I'll explain more about what they do later. Thankfully, the guesthouse serves dinner every single weeknight, and ...

The loss and the return of my passport.

... Feeling down heartened and at a loss to do I decided to fill in the day by visiting the fish market not for a want to see anything but just so I could do something.

As I was walking along, a street trader Daniel asked if I would like to see his paintings. I went down my local line of paying little attention and informed him of my woes and how I did not have the time, with a half hearted comment of I will see him on my way back, he gave me some directions ...
