Very nice 10 hour stay. We had a 12 hour layover in Dar es Salaam between flights and chose this hotel to hang out in. It was nice, roomy and clean. We ate dinner at the cafe and the food was good. Overall the staff could have been friendlier. But as a place to stay, I'd recommend it.

    I just wanna go home!

Well, the morning didn't start out any better than the night ended. I went into the mildew bathroom to take my shower and, um, there’s no shower handle. I mean it’s just gone. No way to turn on the water at all. So Bill heads up to the front desk and tells the lady there and her response is "yeah, the previous customer broke it the day …

It was an epic flight from Hanoi to Dar Es Salaam. I have been nursing a respiratory infection for 3+ weeks and didn't realize how run down I was until we arrived at the hotel. We literally have spent the past 36 hours in the hotel room sleeping, getting up just long enough to eat meals. All that rest has really helped and I am better than I have …

... were many times where I questioned taking this gap year. I saw all my friends go off to college and thought to myself, should I be taking this trip? Throughout these 9 weeks I feel I have really grown up. Ive seen a glimpse of who I am and who I want to be. I learned to do things on my own; uncomfortable things where I would think "wow I would love to be in Durham, NH right now, sitting in my nice house, with AC and electricity," but ...

    Lost in Dar Es Salaam

The traffic in this city is crazy. There's lots of it. There are no real road signs. We got another fine too. Drat.

We dropped off the fab Canadians and attempted to find the ferry to the southern beaches. Failed. turned around by people at what we thought was the port entry. Tries again. Failed.

... there must have been an accident. We are told that this is not the case and this is the normal traffic in Dar. We only arrive at the campsite at 23:00 exhausted and stressed. On this occasion we misunderstood the GPS which directed us around the city and not to the ferry, that crosses the bay to South Beach, which is much closer. This we are told from a tour guide at the campsite who has been to Dar es Salaam 23 times. The ...
