... was a bit secluded for us.

We try to avoid the areas where people stay out all night, but it is nice to have some nightlife and a few options to choose from in terms of restaurants and bars. Plus not being able to swim was a bit of a downer. Overall, I'd say we liked Koh Samui better. We're heading back there for a bit before we go to the islands west of the mainland.

... Island) for a two day detox. Ko Tao is so lovely, slightly overcrowded from the string of Full Moon veterans that have made this their next stop but peaceful and beautiful nonetheless. Tao is world famous for diving and although it would have been lovely to do some I didn't have enough time here to do a Padi Open Water course so had to give it a miss this time. After a days worth of relaxation by the pool it was back to city life and off to the mystical capital, ...

... sister Stephanie. We finally found her and she had made a pal, a nice polite 18 year old guy called Hugo. Not fazed by our kids at all, he sat with us while we waited the couple of hours for the overnight train to depart. We stocked up on cheap yummy Thai food and boarded the train. Not before Rupert had a cuddle with the meats on stick man! The over night trains in Thailand are pretty efficient normally. The seats become beds and then a top bunk folds ...
