... on saturnalia of the full moon (and every other type of moon (including black moon)) parties at Baan Tai and Haad Rin the rest of Pha Ngan is an oasis of calm.

The staff here are mostly young boys and girls of 16 or 17 working seriously long hours (typically from 8.00am to whenever the last guest decides to leave off the beer and give them a break at 11 or 12). Like nearly all the Thais we have met they are resolutely playful, cheerful and always up for some fun, they ...

... lit up with copious amounts of gasoline and brave souls would attempt at limbo'ing underneath. Not content with this, Michael decided to try to high jump the rope after a few too many whiskey buckets (I wasn't in attendance or of course would have tried to intervene..). ... turned out the first session didn't get very far up the tube as I had so much gunk to get out. Day two I got further along and it was really interesting to see what did come out. The toilet bowl had a sieve so you can catch and examine your excrement. Kind of gross, whilst simultaneously interesting to see what goes on inside the body. Would I do it again - yes for sure. My eyes, my skin and my body felt so good after this. I felt strong, clean and ...

... much better and was pretty cheerful and didn't seem fussed by the british people drunk at 7.30am. Once we arrived on Koh Tao we headed to Spencer's old diving school to sign Stephanie up to a course. They got us a room next door for 500baht a night, which is very cheap. No air con though, just a fan. Which we later found out would not be sufficient- it's so, so, so hot here. We cant keep the door open as being in the middle of Sairee, it's noisy. Koh Tao ...
