The Reserva Nationale dello Zingaro is just 11km east of San Vito but no public buses run there. You have to find your own transport. Most visitors opt for the €20 boat trip to view the rocky coast and take a dip offshore. Others choose a €10-15 minivan drop-off service. The day is set aside for well-earned lounging on the beach. The sea here is calm and clear, with a long wade out to find any depth. The beach is soon crowded with weekenders – mostly Italian.
