Went for a walk down through the town for late brekky/lunch. Come back to hotel about 1300 and started to pack suit cases and get things organized for our journey up to visit Ricarda in Greifswald. Had a afternoon nap. Went down to bar at 1800 and caught up with Narelle n Gerrard from Darwin. Had tea with them in hotel and went back to their room until midnight. Great night ...

Had breakfast at the little cafe down by the train station and caught up with Cheryl from Brisbane. Off into Munich and Oktoberfest again to see it sober and look for lost n found for Go Pro n camera gear. No luck but there must have been at least 20,000 people there you could hardly move. No luck with lost n found and made a police report for insurance claim. Went back to train station and found a nice quiet pub for a snack and a few beers. Caught train back about ...

The hotels check in time is 2-10 so we had no idea if they'd still be open when we got there and there's no free wifi anywhere to be able to email them. You hope off the train on to grass, ...

    ... Alpincenter.

    3. Gipfelbahn: a huge gondola with only two large cars and two towers that took us up to the Gipfelwelt 3000, the building near the top of the mountain.

We first visited the "Top of Salzburg", the highest viewing platform in Austria at 3029 meters (9940 feet)! It was very cold outside at only 39 F, but we didn't care because the Austrian Alps were spread out before us.

    We next went through ...

... around a small mountain and almost doubled back on itself.

From there we took a side road, with more switchbacks, up to the Edelweiss-Spitze. This was the highest point on the road at 2571 meters. There were 360 degree views, and even a restaurant with a Zimmer (i.e. rooms you could rent).

Our next stop was the Fuscher Torl, a memorial tower that commemorated the workers who built the road. We saw some sort of animals there, kind of goat-like, that were in ...
