Entering Tico Time
... 3, one for the car and drive ($8) and one for each passenger ($2 each). Speaking Spanish was very helpful given we were the only English speakers around. The bakery was bomb. We got a handful of chicken stuffed empanadas and pasties, coffee and orange juice for less than $5. It was an exciting mash of people all talking and passing bags and money back and forth. As it was Holy week, everyone looked like they were headed out on holiday.

Time to get fat before we head home
... We were sad to be done travelling for now, but happy to get back to NYC and see all of our friends, eat all of our favorite foods, and start our real married life together, so it was a very conflicted feeling. Overall, I wouldn't change a thing about the trip - it was truly a once in a lifetime experience.

... that would take two hours to get to the small town. Getting off the bus at the ranger station I met up with a few locals and another solo traveler from England and found out that we couldent go up the following day (feb 12th) because there was no room in the hostel at the summit. Palmerston North
The trip up from Panama went really smoothly. We booked tickets the day before we left (had to pay the full $12.50 for a ticket to San Jose even though we were getting off half way). Bus ride went smoothly - had to get out of the bus and have our bags sniffed by drug dogs on the Panama side, then complete immigration there and walk over to the Costa Rica side (bags went over on the bus). Surfers paradise
... The Red Hot Chili Peppers have a house down here just so that they can go surfing. There isn't much in Malpais. Its a dirt road that kicks up a bunch of dust (really annoying, the locals all spray the section of the street in front of their house with water to keep the ground wet and dust free). I found me a cabina with a fan for 12 bucks a night with a cool neighbor. His name is Roman and he is originally from Germany but moved to Canada when he was 15. ...
