Arrived in Jaco Beach on Sunday to our lovely room at The Buddha House Hostel at around 1 pm. Early to rise, early to bed! The daily challenge is to capture a new bird every day. From the ever present Aracari (toucan), to hummingbirds, to oropendolas and now the parrot. They are not easy to photograph as they are fairly high up in the trees. Of course, being the same colour as the leaves doesn't help! They arrive every day around 4:00 pm, like clockwork as they say. Since we haven't done a grocery run yet in Jaco (about 20 minutes away), we just grabbed some staples at the local convenience market and I made vegan black bean chili for dinner. (I brought my own TVP.) We were all exhausted, especially Andrew who still wasn't feeling well, and went to bed early albeit a little stinky since there was no hot water. This forty-five minute walk ended back at the reception area where lunch and cold refreshments were served. A souvenir shop was close by where I browsed through the souvenirs but nothing was bought!
