Can Tho, Vietnam mekongtour... br>revolutionaries (there are several monuments dedicated to women
soldiers). And you can sense they are proud of themselves, and
rightfully so.

So as we sat looking over the Mekong eating another delicious meal and
sipping our Vietnamese iced coffees – another thing we adore! - the
****** bus company woes just melt away and we can all enjoy a good
laugh.

Today, though more than made up for the ups and downs. Cần Thơ, Cần Thơ, Vietnam carlaandmike... our connecting bus. It turned out we had no need to worry as our first bus delivered us right to the door of our second one and soon we were in Rach Gia itself. This town turned out not to be the prettiest we had seen on our year away or the most functional - we could not find anywhere to eat for love nor money. Instead we caught a motorbike taxi to the boat office where we picked up our tickets for the ferry in the morning, bought some food and had a picnic dinner in our hotel room.
Can Tho, Vietnam chris.cesca... rivers or orchards or very shy and looked away when we said hello!! Today we passed dragon fruit orchards which is a wierd looking fruit.

Today we got to walk over a monkey bridge which is in the poorer areas & they erect a bridge made of bamboo to cross to the other side. It is just tied ...
Sadec Mekong Delta, Ten Bai, Vietnam hilaryramsey... here (no DJ's vans running about!) and this is where a lot of the city gets its goods (especially fruit and veg).
After coming back from the floating market (at 12) we decide on not exploring more of the delta but going straight to Ho Chi Min City as we're rather scared of running out of time going up the coast. We head to the bus station and catch another Mahlin bus and after some bloody hassle from a 4 year old that would not leave me alone, we're off.
Can Tho, Vietnam karkade... passing houses we'd hear 'hello' from small voices within the home or yard and children would trample out to the path and wave at those behind those in the front. That evening we took a boat to CaiBe Island where we spent the night at a homestay. We slept on army-type cots covered in mosquito nets... the three of us ladies in one 'room' (which was really just a curtain enclosure) and the two couples in two other 'rooms'. That night we went to bed ...
Can Tho, Vietnam mickeymo... just two occupants through very narrow channels), visiting a variety of locations, for a variety of activities ... to look round and sample the produce from cottage industries - and have the opportunity to buy the produce of course! (eg coconut candy 'factory', honey bee farm (tasty honey tea with lime), rice noodle 'factory' ...), have lunch, visit orchards and sample some exotic fruits, check out a large ...
Can Tho, Vietnam aandl... Salmonella hot to get it on with some ugly Ecoli bacteria and who knows what that would produce. On that same note, Vietnam has been pretty underwhelming in the culinary department. Very uninspired. Fellow travelerss say that they think even the Pho back in the states is way better. The bread is good though; slightly crusty but fluffy on the inside. That is my favorite thing so far. Motre later. I am tired and I have HBO in my room
Can Tho, Vietnam donmiller... and got a "taxi" to our hotel on the waterfront. CT was a lot more interesting than CD, as the main town in the Mekong delta, it was very lively with pleasant public gardens along the riverside and the river itself buzzing with traffic - all night long! We had an excellent dinner in the hotel that night. Next morning we took a luxury launch for a visit to the nearby floating market and the small canals criss-cross the area.
