... and the dozens of hot air balloons landing after their morning sunrise tour.

We got very little sleep on the bus so were relieved when we could check straight into our room at Arch Palace hotel. It was a great little hotel in the centre of Goreme, and whilst not a cave hotel (many of the hotels are actually built into the caves), it was a nice stone building with a fabulous rooftop with amazing views across the town, with fairy chimneys and cave houses all around us. Investigations by various priests located a house of the exact description  (... a bit like having Dracula investigate the blood bank). The house is now a shrine with holy waters ...

... other caves and found it. The view from here was beautiful! Our room was a cave which naturally remained a perfect temperature even though it was all kinds of hot and cold outside. In the morning we woke early and got on with the day. After a buffet turkish breakfast of cheese, olives, tomato, cucumber, bread, and rose jam, we walked through out of town to the open air museum.
