... how it once was, with those great caravans trundling in loaded with wares brought all the way from far east. How exciting their arrival must have been with the traders jostling each other to get their hands on all those new and tempting wares, boys rushing to tend to the camels and horses and dusty, weary travellers keen to find the nearest bathhouse and relax.

Our route took us south to Ogdir through the Aras mountains that are starkly beautiful with many ...

Neil, Karen and Yan waded across the river. Victoria and I patiently kept on until we found a place where the river narrowed and we couple leapfrog over some rocks. Patience is a virtue?

We enjoyed a well earned ...

... smooth and just delicious. I really enjoyed it. Hierapolis is a city mentioned in the Bible. We were interested to learn that it was quite close to the city of Laodacia, which we know as one of the seven churches in the book of Revelation. Laodacia was also known for its natural springs and was also quite a wealthy city. The church was labelled as lukewarm which we found interesting as that is the perfect way to describe the temperature of the spring water. After lunch we headed ...
