Ephesus - Three in a row!
... The most photographed building at the site. This was the 3rd largest library (after Alexandria and Pergamon) in the world at the time. It has 40 foot tall columns on ground floor with 4 statues (Wisdom, Knowledge, Intelligence, Bravery). The outer columns are shorter than central ones creating the illusion of the facade bulging in the middle. I would say the library was my favourite building of all, it was beautifully proportioned and stunningly designed, especially with the crystal blue sky behind it, In fact, I possibly preferred it to the amphitheatre as it was so unusual. The theatre was huge and pretty much in ...
Selcuk day 2
... the sampled some fruit wine that they are famous for, ended up with the mulberry which was by far the best in between our dodging of the rain.
Returning to Selcuk we changed out itenerary because of time limitations so will be taking a slightly altered route for you to look forward to. Plans for tomorrow is Ayvalik which is on the coast, should be beautiful.
