    We've been in Canada for just over a week now, and so far so good…kind of. The fierce little nighthawks have returned from their migration and are feeding in the exact location they have been for the past 30+ years. Although they mysteriously disappeared on us for two days, they are back in full force and last night we managed to catch three females (they are so cool!). We are only interested in catching nighthawks ...

    ... very disgusted migration officer that we were apparently of great benefit to Canada, although he did not see how it applied...but nevertheless decided to let us through. Thank goodness! I guess thermal imaging cameras and Pelican cases filled with tracking equipment and wires came across as slightly suspicious. Flambeau and Klaas on the other hand, only smiled through the car window - entrance approved on the spot!

    11 serviced campsites along the Kettle River (take note Ladysmith, it is a community run campsite).

    walked the dogs along the river for 3 km- oh but so hot 30 C, thank god for the shade!

    Another 'quiet' day with more time streamlining the process of web communication. I have discovered that dear hubby with his Surface Pro has never bothered to upload the computer programs that I need on this trip. I never thought to check. He uses it primarily as a tablet for Email, Facebook and Mahjong! It was supposed to be our travel computer! Thank goodness we brought the trusty aging Dell as a backup but ...

    ... After our dip and an extra large ice-cap we are back on the road by 230ish and start the drive through the gorgeous Okanagan Vallley. We arrive in Vancouver by 8 and it was thankfully smooth sailing through the city that we were able to catch the last sailing to Nanaimo.
