... the earth. The area had the feel of the Greek Isles...hot, dry but fertile and scenic with the sun's rays glistening off of the pearly blue lake water. Boaters and swimmers peppered the water and sunned themselves on the few sandy beaches I saw. Signs advertising wineries were on every block. And there were several luxury golf courses with beautiful entrances.

... us due South. According to the map the road looked to be a straight shot south. Point being that what we expected was a wide, straight gravel road. What we found instead was a single lane road that wound it’s way through the landscape eventually running along the contour of the hills on the eastern edge Lake Mabel. ... the interesting murals on the buildings provided some colourful representation of the town's past. Leaving Trail, we passed through the Italian district. Rossland was a different story - full of historic buildings, shops and restaurants and definitely a tourist town, most notably, skiing. Looks like it is a fun place during the ski season.
