... a section of the floor, and a deep silence prevails for some minutes. Then it is time for coffee, and the drive back to Caluerega. One of the brothers opens the shop for us and the tower. The views from the tower are spectacular. No wonder the earliest inhabitants built here. Any would-be invader would be spotted immediately! ... Camino. Aza is perched on a high hill and is reached by quite a steep climb up the road. Much of the buildings are decaying although some houses have been renovated. The Parish church has been restored and it is likely that Dominic would have visited his grandparents in the town and visited the tiny church. The church is opened for us by two local women who are the keepers of the keys. They limit our taking of photos ...

... on and feeling a little sore so I thought I would stop. The meek and mild people in the house insisted on telling me there was no WiFi (Wiffy in Spanish) and No technology in this house and they are very Christian. OOps what had I stumbled on here. I asked about getting something to eat and they said there was a bar in this village they do not do eats. I asked about the beds. There were no beds only 2 inch mats on the floor. At this stage ...

Very imposing view from the main road that now bypasses the town - calls out "come and visit". Morning market - fruit and veg - strictly locals only.

Learnt early that the Spainish don't eat lunch at 12 - we were told to come back at 1.30! Had leg of lamb for two - roasted in a clay oven - which was on display in the restaurant. Yummy!

Town was great for a wander around ...
