Sinaia was the last city that I visited in Romania. All the books that I read about this country before I came, especially David Kaplan’s Balkan Ghost, made me envision a poor and backward nation of nasty people. ... ribs. Knowing that I could not eat a giant plate of ribs, I decided I would still go for some pork. Had a small bowl of salted pork knuckle and bean soup and then a pork cutlet with potatoes. It is a wonderful cultural experience to go there, and it has become one of my favourite places to visit ...
