    • Bird watching from the tower in the lodge, from which we saw: toucans (white throated - biggest in Ecuador, chestnut-eared, plus some smaller ones), green ibises, black & yellow caciques (weaving bird), woodpeckers, parrots flying overhead, an oropendola (this bird has a funny call while it lifts its tail and opens its wings), and also a saki monkey.

    ... had all kinds of old flutes and drums and what not from ancient societies in Ecuador. They even had some you could play. Actually technically you couldn't, since there were big "NO TOCAR" signs on them, but there was no one around to enforce the no touching rule, so we got to play some ancient instruments.
