      The Bus ride from Columbia to Ecuador was quite interesting and took about 5 hours longer than expected. In Ecuador the gouvernment is just upgrading a lot of roads and so it happened that our road was closed for what felt like ages. Some locals made a business out of it and sold fresh Empanadas and Ice cream which was really nice and tasty. Of course we were also checked again by the police after the border but we already got used to it.

      We were close to the TeleferiQo that took people up the Volcan Pichincha to Cruz Loma offering great views. The walk up the hill, in the midday heat, was a bit further than we anticipated and thankfully there was a free shuttle bus up the last wee bit. The gondola ride was 2.5km long, up the steep side of the mountain to over 4000m above sea level.

      ... up buying anything. They also have a Quito sign (similar to the Amsterdam sign in Amsterdam), so we stopped to take photos with the sign before starting to head back towards the hotel. We discovered a place that was open and did reasonably priced pedicures, so we decided to go back to the hotel and have a rest before venturing back out down to the shops to get our feet done and have lunch.
