Day 15 Q: Hey, you want grass?
... with Morocco is of course the extreme poverty encountered. The continual exposure to mutilated / disabled beggars in the towns and obvious hardship and suffering tends to create an empathic crust so you really don’t see people anymore, just some weird form of distressing and malignant virtual reality. It is hard to stay in the moment, and so the whole experience seems already in the past, a memory. Even when I approach strangers for advice such ...
Day 14 Essaouria or bust
... luxury, so the Ryad Mogador it is. Andie swears it has four stars, but I insist it’s three plus an A, even though a nice chap in a uniform unloaded my things from my bike and took them to my room. For lunch our group met up and tried the "melange" which is a mix of different types of seafood. This whole concept was pure hell for me. Instead ...
Clementines for a smile
... different from the day before. There were a few people surfing the small waves and even a couple kitesurfers trying to manage the fairly calm winds.
Sitting at the cafe, under the warmth of the sun and the comfortable ocean breeze, in what had become a reliable occurence, in a couple of minutes, we were joined by three other people from our hostel who had just randomly seen us from the beach. With Ahmagi's gift of bringing people together, we enjoyed ...
